Eligibility Requirements
Membership in the American Legion is open to all men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces during qualifying wartime periods. The following individuals are eligible:
- U.S. Armed Forces service during a wartime period as defined by Congress
- Active duty service members currently serving
- Members of the National Guard and Reserve who have been federally activated
- All honorably discharged veterans who served during qualifying periods
